Information for Monday 5th March 2018
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you so much for the fantastic community turnout to help us clear the paths and playgrounds at Wallacestone Primary today. We were supported by diggers and a team from Falkirk Council. In addition, we’d like to thank Mr McLean who came along with a mini digger to help too.
We intend to re-open tomorrow (Monday 5th March) and expect all staff to be in school unless the conditions change overnight. Please read the information below regarding access, lunches etc.
Access to school building
Access to the school will be via the front entrance and access paths. Children can come into school on a staggered basis from 8:45am tomorrow. There will be flexibility over arrival time to ease congestion. Where at all possible, we would ask that pupils walk to school.
You might want to send your child with their school shoes in their bag to change into due to the grit and slush on the nearby pavements.
We have been informed that school transport will run tomorrow. We’ve cleared access from the road to the pavement although the bus bay cannot be used yet.
School lunches will be available however the menu is going to be limited for the next few days. You may wish to send your child with a packed lunch tomorrow.
If your child requires a school lunch tomorrow, please send in a note to confirm your child requires a lunch and enclose dinner money (if appropriate) for Monday only. Options will be confirmed with the catering staff in the morning.
Forms will be issued on Monday for the rest of this week and further orders/money for the week will be collected on Tuesday morning.
We have requested an extension to the Scholastic Book Fair but no classes will visit the Book Fair on Monday. Please do not send children with money tomorrow. We will contact parents over the next day or two with a revised schedule.
Please read the following information from Falkirk Council issued today
Whilst we aim to reopen all schools tomorrow (Monday) in the event that a school has to remain closed parents and carers will be alerted via text messaging, school social media, alerts via Central FM and via the Council’s dedicated schools disruption webpage found here. This will be done as early as possible (normally between 7am and 8am) so please keep checking back around that time. It is not an easy decision to close a school however it is always made with the welfare of our pupils in mind.
The past week has been one of the most challenging for the Council across all its services due to the severe weather however we are doing everything we can to get back to normality and we thank everyone for their support and understanding during the current situation.
Thank you for your support.
